Starting from the Hotel Ambet in Meransen with skis already strapped on, you are literally just a few meters away from the cable car valley station, leading to the Nesselhütte mountain hut at 2,100 m a.s.l. just beneath the summit of the Gitsch mountain in the heart of the Gitschberg Jochtal ski area.

Skiing is at its most enjoyable in the Pfunderer mountain. The wide slopes and relaxed atmosphere attract numerous skiers who appreciate the pristine, natural landscape. An aerial lift connects the ski areas of Meransen-Gitschberg and Jochtal-Vals with ski slopes totalling 50 km between them, at altitudes ranging from 1,300 m – 2,500 m a.s.l..

Two certified ski schools cater to beginners while the kids have fun under the supervision of the staff. There are three children’s world play parks (one of them the Zwergele Winterwelt), helping kids take their first steps on skis. A number of traditional South Tyrolean restaurants are located in the vicinity.

Looking for an adrenaline rush? In that case, the Vals Fun Park might just be the right place. The Fun Park is where freestyle and snowboarding fans can put themselves through their paces with heart-pounding jumps or various stunts. Since the breath-taking surroundings cannot be ignored, visitors should stop by the viewing platforms on top of the Gitschberg and next to the mountain station in Vals.
