Thrilling family descents in the Gitschberg Jochtal holiday area

Sledding in Meransen in South Tyrol

With sledding choices ranging from the easy descents for kids to the more challenging slopes and gruelling bends, there is no time to get bored in Meransen. After reaching the starting point, just get on the sled and head downhill helter-skelter into the valley!

There are no less than 4 sledding trails in Meransen. The artificial track near the tennis courts is where beginners can practice and improve their skills. The Gitschberg natural slope winds its way through the woods as far as the Meransen valley station, while an easy 5 km sled track departs from the Moserhütte mountain hut in the romantic Altfasstal Valley

One of the choice routes starts from the Fane Alm in the Valstal Valley winding its way through picturesque landscapes over a 3 km track. For those keen on sledding in a romantic atmosphere, the track stays lit after sunset one evening per week.

At the end of every sled-ride there is the customary stop at one of the refuges! After warming up in front of the fireplace enjoying a hearty, homemade soup one is ready for the last downhill run back into the valley.
